Working closely with his network of global contacts, and the US State Department to secure Behnaz Shafiei visa, manager Mo Tavakolian of Tavak Partners put together a month-long itinerary which focused on advanced skills training and brand building.
While in New York, Shafiei was profiled by Excellesports, the influential all women's sports news and feature magazine. Her article appears on Excelle Sports. After that, she attended the 2017 Las Vegas Supercross, a motocross and Supercross premier event. Though not eligible to race, Shafiei nonetheless met many top US riders. |
Mo Tavakolian was honored recently for his work in sports diplomacy by Dr. David Curby, Director of the Int'l. Network of Wrestling Researchers (INWR).
Dr. Curby, an internationally certified conditioning specialist and wrestling coach, founded the INWR 10 years ago. His website, Curby Wrestling www.curbywrestling.com and www.inwr-wrestling.com are the world’s foremost websites on the scientific aspects of wrestling. |
Iranian distance swimmer Mohammad Kobadi had already set a Guinness World Record in 2011 as the first and fastest swimmer to cross the Persian Gulf, but wanted to do it again three years later.
An American swimming enthusiast, acting on a referral from the US Department of State, contacted Tavak Partners to act as Kobadi'sliaison. The initial idea was to repeat the swim as a relay with American and Iranian swimmers. The joint participation would symbolize peace and sports diplomacy. |
Founded in 2011 by Mo Tavakolian, Lorelei Martin-Tavakolian and Jon Tush, the Become Your Own Dream Fund (BYOD) has since awarded thousands of dollars to college-bound Beat the Streets-affiliated wrestlers.
The BYOD scholarship is granted to a New York City student-athlete who has overcome obstacles, felt hardship, and who plans to wrestle in college. It is open to those who have graduated from high school (or are seniors attending college in the fall), and those who currently attend college. |
Tavak Partners' New York offices have a new addition: memorabilia from the Persian training ritual of Pahlevani.
Pahlevāni ("heroic sport") and zoorkhāneh rituals are a traditional system of athletics used to train Persian warriors in Iran and adjacent lands since 550 BC. The memorabilia was a gift from twin wrestlers Eisa and Moussa Momeni. The pair holds the highest degree in the sport of pahlevani and represents this style of wrestling as members of United World Wrestling. Additionally, the two were on the Iran National Team in 1990, with Eisa competing in the 1996 Olympics. |
